Chrismas: What is it?

Christmas…the busiest time of year:  Lists get checked off, gifts are purchased, halls are decked, people are stressed…

Christmas…a time for debate: Christmas is and is not really a pagan holiday that was Christianized by the Church. Christmas is and is not about Christ.  Christ was and was not born December 25th. You don’t dare say “Merry Christmas” without first addressing Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Winter Solstance, Festivus, etc…

Christmas…a time spend: Spend money we don’t have on stuff we don’t need; spend time we don’t have around people we don’t care for; spend effort on those who don’t deserve it…

What if we instead try to rethink this time of year:

Christmas…the time of year to look within:  Review the year. What did I do right? How can I improve? Who can I be a blessing to?

Christmas…a time for acknowledgement: Yes, you have your points of view, and I have mine. That is what is great about living in a free society! Sure, we can debate freely, but no one should impose their ways on others by force or by law. The Christian God allows for free will, why can’t we humans do the same?

Christmas…a time spend: Spend valuable time and effort with the people you love, and reach out to others in need.

"Who needs Santa when you have Grandma,"
“Who needs Santa when you have Grandma,”

Christmas… what is it to you?
